Banitirtha Rules & Regulations
1. Banitirtha is a private not-for-profit association of families. Membership at Banitirtha is based on the family unit comprised of parents with participating children, if any.
2. All individuals in Banitirtha families will comply with and shall abide by the Banitirtha Rules and Regulations in effect. Infraction of any rule by any individual will jeopardise the membership standing of the family unit as a whole and may be grounds for dismissal and termination of all individuals in the family from Banitirtha.
3. Banitirtha reserves its rights to accept, deny or terminate membership and set other criteria for the same, as it may deem necessary.
4. Banitirtha is managed by the teachers and administrators. Teachers give language and culture trainings. Administrators are responsible for finance, budget, zoom setup, premises, snacks and library.
5. Banitirtha reserves its rights to choose, appoint and terminate the teachers and administrators and their responsibilities.
6. Banitirtha Rules and Regulations are strictly written and administered by the teachers and administrators.
7. The academic year starts on September after Labor day holiday.
8. The academic year ends in June on a date determined by the teachers and administrators to coincide with the start of summer recess at regular schools.
9. Banitirtha holidays for the year are determined and published at the beginning of the year.
10. Students must join or re-join by the beginning of October. The date might vary year to year.
Otherwise, the person has to wait until the next academic year to enroll.
11. Students who are either 6 years old or in 1st. Grade can attend Prarambhik 1.
12. Students who are either 5 years old or in Kindergarten can attend Shishubibhag.
13. Siblings of the current students, not yet 5 years old can join the Shishubibhag.
14. Enrolling students must take assessment tests to determine their class level mainly applicable for Prarambhik1 to higher classes.
15. Students must attend two 1-hour sessions every class day – the language class and the Culture Class. No exception is granted.
16. Parents need to be present at Banitirtha to pick up their child at 5pm unless otherwise announced.
17. Teachers confer with parents every three months regarding the progress of their student.
18. The general body meets with teachers twice a year to share their experience and discuss issues.
19. The member families share all expenses related to Banirtha operations, activities and events.
20. Each Banitirtha family shares responsibility for providing refreshments to class attendees.
21. The family in charge of refreshments is also responsible for cleaning the premises that day.
22. Members are assigned certain responsibilities during the academic year. Other members
will not interfere in these without being requested to assist.
23. Banitirtha related email announcements will only be sent by Gopa Kumar, Bijali Saha or other persons nominated for administration related matters.
24. Banitirtha members will not send any email messages to other Banitirtha addresses for any personal or class related matters. Any suggestions or comments should be presented at Banitirtha meetings. Infractions of this guideline may be grounds for dismissal.
25. The language class starts at 3pm unless otherwise announced. Students should join classes on time. The language class lasts for an hour. The one hour culture class follows the language class.
26. The class teacher maintains attendance. Three consecutive absence is ground for dismissal. A trip abroad or illnesses are exceptions.
27. Language as well as Culture Class teachers distribute the academic year curriculum at the beginning of each year. The curriculum should be approved by the teachers body.
28. Teachers confer monthly, if possible, to discuss progress and issues
29. Every student has to follow instructions regarding homeworks and exams assigned by their teacher.
30. All regular promotions take place at the end of the academic year. Promotions to the next higher class for a student is determined by the outgoing and incoming class teachers.If a student's academic level falls between class levels, special help is provided to accelerate her/his promotion to next class.
31. Each student will be awarded a certificate of achievement at the end of the academic year after successful completion of their course work.
32. Banitirtha student completes his/her tenure finally after completion of maximum 3 Elapsed years of the highest “Pragrashar” class, currently available in the class curriculum.
33. No Advance study curriculum is currently available at Banitirtha.
34. Every student has to attend culture classes, which starts at 4 pm on Sundays, unless otherwise announced. Students must attend both language and culture class on any given school day. Prior permissions from the teachers are required for any exception.
35. Every student has to complete the projects assigned in the culture classes.
36. Every student has to participate in the Banitirtha Day at the end of the academic year. A trip abroad or illnesses are exceptions.
37. Inform the respective teacher and Banitirtha about the student's or teacher's absence at least 2 days before the class. Emergency health problem or family matter is exempted from this rule.
